[ Updated] Police Investigating Another People's Bank Robbery

Police are investigating the case.

Vernon Police are investigating a second bank robbery in a month's time at a bank in the Tri-City Plaza shopping center. 

Police spokesman Lt. William Meier said that on Friday at 8:23 a.m., just when the bank opened, the suspect approached an employee in the parking lot, entered the bank with the employee, encountered other employees and tied up one of them. The suspect and claimed to have a bomb, he said. 

Meier said an undisclosed amount a cash was taken.

The suspect is being described as a lone male. He fled in an employee's car, Meier said. It is believed he drove onto Interstate-84 and drove to exit 63 in Manchester.

The car was located in Manchester off Deming Street. A regional bomb squad was called to the scene and no bomb was found, Meier said. A police dog unit tracked the suspect toward Northwest Park. He is still at large.  

The bank was also robbed on May 25. Meier said more details would be released to the public as the investigations progress. 

Meier said anyone witnessing anything near the bank, particularly early in the morning, cal call 860-872-9126. Callers can remain anonymous. Police have released a bank camera image of the suspect.
