Police Investigating Saturday Bank Robbery

Vernon police are investigating a Saturday bank robbery at a busy shopping plaza.

Vernon police have issued the following news release on the incident:

On Saturday May 25, 2013 at approximately 12:10 pm., Vernon Police received a 911 emergency call reporting a Bank Robbery at the People’s United Bank, located in Tri-City Plaza, 35 Talcottville Road in Vernon. Vernon Police Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The robbery suspect is described as a white male, in his 20s, wearing a dark-colored knit hat, black sunglasses, grey Nike hooded zip front sweatshirt with a red shirt underneath, blue jeans and white sneakers. Suspect is a thin to medium build. The suspect fled the store on foot to an awaiting vehicle. No weapons were displayed.

Vernon Police Detectives were called to the scene and processed it for evidence.

The robber fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money. At the time of the Robbery, Tri-City Plaza was busy with both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. It is very likely that someone witnessed the suspect and may have information that they don’t know is valuable. Anyone with information is asked to call Vernon Police Detectives at 860-872-9126.
