Police to Canvass the Area Near Walgreens for Robbery Clues

Police are looking for more witnesses.

Vernon Detectives will be returning to the scene of  an armed robbery at the Vernon Walgreens on Saturday from about 9:30 a.m. until about 1 p.m. 

The Walgreens is located at 529 Talcottville Rd. - state Route 83 - at the intersection of Dart Hill Road.  

Last Saturday - Nov 9 - at approximately 11a.m., the store was robbed by a white male with a handgun.  

Detectives will be in the area handing out flyers and attempting to locate anyone who may have witnessed the crime.  

Police said they are looking to speak "with anyone who may have seen the robber at the Walgreens or surrounding area before or after the robbery."  

That includes anyone who saw, "unusual people or vehicles that may have been at the Walgreens or surrounding area," police said. 

A $2,500 reward is being offered by Purdue Pharma for information leading to the arrest of the robber.  Anyone with information or tips can call Crime Stoppers at 888-479-8477 or Vernon Police at 860-872-9126. Police said callers may remain anonymous.

The robber is being described as an "older" white male, age 45 to 55, about 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, with a muscular to husky type build, wearing a dark gray, flat brim baseball cap, sunglasses, and a long sleeve dark sweatshirt.

Police said some witnesses have come forward following recent media publicity, but law enforcement officials are still looking to talk to others who were in the area around the time of the crime.
