Updated: Motorcycle Crash Closes Route 140 in Ellington

The bike and two vehicles collided at Tomoka and Maple and LifeStar was called to the scene.

Updated, 11 p.m. Two vehicles were traveling wesbound on Maple Street (Route 140) and the motorcycle was traveling east. The motorcycle collided with both vehicles. The only injury was the motorcycle driver, a man near 60 years of age, who was taken to St. Francis Hospital via LifeStar helicopter. The intersection will remain closed while the accident reconstruction team does its investigation. Original Story State police and emergency medical personnel rushed to the intersection of Tomoka Avenue and Maple Street in Ellington just before 9 p.m. on Sunday after a motorcycle collided with two vehicles. Task Force Busts up Alleged Pot Factory on East Street

The alleged operation is down the road from an elementary school.

A Vernon man is facing several drug-related charges after members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at 18 East St. on Thursday, according to a task force news release. Task force members had received information about drug activity occurring inside the residence, and were able to secure a search warrant, the release states. Northeast School is located down the road at 69 East St. Once inside the residence, task force members found evidence of a "marijuana grow operation," the release indicates. Task force members seized more than 27 marijuana plants weighing about 4 pounds, scales, packaging, lights, fans, a .50 caliber black powder gun and other paraphernalia, police said. Residents Charged in Domestic, Shoplifting Cases

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vernon Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. • A juvenile was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace at 9:15 on Wednesday night, according to an arrest report. The juvenile was being held on a $1,000 bond while awaiting a Thursday court appearance, police said.  • A Vernon woman is facing a sixth-degree larceny charge for allegedly shoplifting at the CVS store at 22 Windsor Ave., police said. Brandy Lee Roberts, 30, of 25 Franklin St., was taken into custody at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to an arrest report. Updated: Manchester Woman Charged With Embezzling From ECHN in Vernon

She was the office manager at a physicians office, detectives said.

UPDATED: May 16, 3:16 p.m. A Manchester woman has been charged with embezzling more than $68,000 from a Vernon physicians office owned by Eastern Connecticut Health Network, Vernon Police Department detectives said on Tuesday. In a news release distributed just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, detectives said  that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Pamela Burland, 51, of 27 Madison St. in Manchester, for first-degree larceny. She is accused of embezzling more than $68,000.00 from ECHN between December 2009 and September 2011, the news release indicates. Burland was the office manager at the practice during the time period when the alleged crimes occurred, detectives said. Burland surrendered at Vernon police headquarters on Tuesday, was …

Tolland Man Facing Insurance Violation Related to October Rear-End Collision

State Police pulled him over on Monday and he was taken to Vernon PD.

Police said a Tolland man must answer to an insurance violation charge related to a Vernon rear-end collision in October, according to an arrest report. Ryan Bouchard, 25, of 460 Old Stafford Rd., Tolland, was taken into custody on Monday, police said. Vernon police said Bouchard was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Oct. 27. Bouchard had presented an insurance card to the officer at the time of the accident, police said.  Bouchard was cited for traveling too fast for conditions after his car rear-ended another vehicle, police said. About two weeks after the accident, the investigating officer was informed that Bouchard did not have valid insurance, an arrest report indicates. Vernon Police Make Traffic Stops, Respond to Domestic Over the Weekend

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vernon Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. • A Manchester man is facing a number of charges after a traffic stop on Sunday, polices said. Joshua Mance, 30, of 58 Foster St., Manchester, was stopped at 8 p.m. on Sunday, police said. He was charged with possessing alcohol in a public area and the use of drug paraphernalia, police said. He was released on a $500 bond, police said. In a separate ace, he was charged with sixth-degree larceny resulting from a shoplifting complaint, police said. He was released on a $250 bond, police said. He is due in court on May 22 for all charges, police said. • A 41-year-old Vernon woman was charged with second-degree breach of peace …
