I love it, a little out of the box thinking, we need allot more of this not only from the school but…Read More the town, rec dept... I hope to never hear again a teacher, town employee or administrator say "that's how we've always done it"... when someone questions why they do something a certain way.
A new renegotiated bus contract to rates not seen in 8 years?!? FANTASTIC! No more business as usual in Vernon. This type of approach is real world thinking in todays economy.

Con't....I’m able parent hamstrung by ever-increasing taxes levied at all levels of…Read More government. The cumulative tax burden is nearing a point where it will jeopardize my ability to take care of my own. That’s a huge issue. My pay is modest and stagnant. I’ve seen a 3% pay raise in six years. This doesn’t begin to keep up with the rate of inflation. Everything costs more – gas, milk, eggs, bread, government. As I pay more and more taxes – local, state, federal - my role as a parent is abrogated. Think about it for a moment. Money has always equated to power. The less money I have to feed, clothe, shelter, and provide for their medical needs, the more the state steps in to provide those basic necessities under the guise of providing “for the children”. The state has, in fact, nulled my parental authority and has become the parent in my stead. I am impotent in the rising tide of higher taxes and inflation. Yet, I’m asked to pay more. Please don’t tell me about “shared sacrifice”. There’s no such thing. The government unabashedly takes my money and redistributes it to those that “need” it more. This is my issue.

In the spirit of being civil, the following is not directed to, nor intended, to attack any one…Read More person, organization, or institution. Please do not take my comments personally.
In my opinion, the phrase “for the children”, or “it’s for education” or one of its knock-offs, is for the intellectually challenged who cannot articulate a convincing argument for their position. It’s a crutch, a verbal weapon, used to stifle meaningful and well thought-out dialog. The person that rebukes the “for the children” or “it’s for education” statement is vilified and labeled a pariah by family and society. They’re told to shut-up; that they don’t know what they’re talking about. My opinion, right or wrong, is my opinion. If you don’t like it, that’s great – I could care less. But you will not intimidate me into silence. If anything, you strengthen my resolve to speak even more. Too many brave Americans have been wounded and killed defending my right to speak freely. I need not defend my beliefs to anyone.

Since when is it against the law to handcuff a juvenile? Although I don't understand why a police…Read More officer had to do the courts system's work. Shouldn't a court officer been the one to bring him to the "court ordered" evaluation? The parent should NOT be suing, the parent should be arrested for not getting his/her child to that evaluation!

Michael, Michael, Michael. Will you never learn? Almost like clockwork we can count on your…Read More inflammatory rhetoric, stirring up the pot of discontent. Instead of addressing the concerns of the citizenry, working to affect change in a positive way, you resort to some blog bomb throwing when things don’t go your way. Yes, Michael we can count on you to point out problems, stereotype and twist things to your perceived political advantage, you are nothing if not predictable. I don’t see any other members of the town council of either party acting in this manner. Why so negative? Why so childish? And so many politicians do this kind of thing, Ugh! I'm just so sick to death of these antics every year. That is probably why people don't vote. It is nauseating. You bring nothing to the table. When will you pick up your toys and go home? Soon I hope?

so now making very modest reductions to charitable organizations is creating and encouraging class…Read More warfare.
It is quite evident that the majority on the board are simply reacting to the desires of the voters who clearly spoke in the referendum that spending was to high. How you reason that this amounts to class warfare is beyond me.
The rhetoric by Mr. Winkler is not only disgusting and beyond reproach and gives proof to the fact that he has little concern about solving real problems.
