Cider Mill 5K and Family Fun Run
Saturday, 8 a.m. - The 14th Annual Cider Mill 5K and Family Fun Run will be held on Saturday. The Cider Kids races begin at 9 a.m., the Cider Mile Fun Run begins at 9:45 a.m., and the 5K begins at 10:30 a.m. Trophies will be awarded for the top 5K finishers in nine divisions. Antique Engine and Tractor Show
Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - Take in the sights and sounds of local farming history and other unique pieces of equipment. Over 20 exhibitors arrive to show off their tractors and hit-and-miss engines. Past exhibits have ranged from a mini-hay baler to a large flat bed log cutter. A food booth offering Mrs. Murphy donuts, hot dogs, and beverages will be open. There is free admission and free parking.

Family Program: Celebrating Family at the Connecticut Historical Society
Saturday, 10 a.m.
- Celebrate Family History Month with the CHS on Oct. 5. Spend time together exploring our galleries and designing your own family tree. Work as a team to fill in the names of your family members and then decorate your tree with pictures, drawings, and descriptions of your favorite family activities and memories. Please bring your own photographs, if you would like to include these on your family tree. All other supplies will be provided by the CHS. This program is recommended for children 10 and under. East Windsor Barktoberfest

Saturday, 11 a.m. - Enjoy a family friendly day for you and your furry friend. Admission is free and the event will be held rain or shine. Have fun visiting the vendors, food, contests, demonstrations, and children’s activities during the day. Enjoy live acoustic music between noon and 3 p.m. by “Just Jeannie” with special guest Joe Pomeroy. Be one of the first to arrive and receive one of the 200 give away bags that will be handed out. Don’t leave the event without treating your 
dog to the very popular all-day swim in our reservoir. Swim pass is $10 per dog donation. Dogs must be licensed and respond to voice command. Special thanks to our Great Dane Sponsors Camp Bow Wow of South Windsor, Leaps & Bones of Manchester, and Faithful Friends Canine Academy of Ellington. All money raised will support the maintenance and improvements at the East Windsor Dog Park. Bring a pet food donation to help our local organizations. Puppet Performance at Vernon Community Arts Center
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. - Delightful, surprising and quirky tales using an intriguing array of puppets will be performed by UConn Puppet Arts Students. This program is suitable for adults and older children, and is part o fThe World of Puppetry exhibit, on display Thursdays through Sundays, 1 p.m. through 5 p.m. through Oct. 5. A Cappella Festival
Saturday, 8 p.m. - Singing songs, making music, blending harmonies are some of the words that describe the A Cappella groups performing at Beth Sholom B’nai Israel’s Note-able Night on Saturday. The performances begin at 8 p.m. WNPR, Ray Hardman, Master of Ceremonies, will “conduct” the special evening. The performers include Fallin’ Flat, Completely Different Note, Conn Chords, Harmonious Soul, Millennium Magic and L’Shir. Proceeds from the event will benefit Beth Sholom B’nai Israel, which is located at 400 E. Middle Turnpike in Manchester. Tickets for the Note-able Night are $45 for preferred seating, $25 for general admission (adults) and $15 for students with ID. “Myth, Maggots, Minie Balls, Gangrene, and Glory: A Civil War Medical Program”
Sunday, 2 p.m. - This program will be presented by Carolyn Ivanoff, the Housemaster at Shelton Intermediate School. If you are interested in the Civil War, medicine, or history in general, you will not want to miss this interesting program.
