Superintendent to Present Education Budget on Monday

A source says the proposed increase is just less than 5 percent.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway is slated to present her proposed 2014-15 budget to the public at 6 p.m. on Monday at the school administration building. 

A source close to the budget proceedings said on Sunday that the proposal carries an increase of about 2.4 million - or just less than 5 percent - over the current budget of $50.4 million. 

Other budget meetings are: 

• Jan. 15 - 6 p.m., budget workshop.

• Jan. 22 - 6 p.m., budget workshop.

• Feb. 3 - 6 p.m., special meeting to approve the school system proposed budget.

On Feb. 10, the proposed school system budget is to be delivered to the mayor.

All meetings are slated for the school administration building. '

Opportunities for public comment are slated for end end of the Jan. 13 meeting and at the beginning of the other scheduled meetings.
