Road Bond Referendum and Council Make-up Meeting Both Slated for Tuesday

A vote on a proposed $27.65 million bond ordinance that would pave the way for a massive six-year road maintenance project is set for Tuesday. 

The referendum is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. All districts will vote at Center 375, located at 375 Hartford Turnpike - Route 30. 

The plan is to fix more than 200 roads from a quick seal to complete reconstruction.

The Town Council is slated to host a special meeting on Tuesday night at 7:30 at Town Hall.

It is a make-up date for last week's meeting that was postponed because of snow. 

Here is a look at the agenda: 

• Presentation by Mayor Daniel Champagne and Parks and Recreation Director Bruce Dinnie to the Outstanding Volunteer Coach and Distinguished Service Award for an individual and business.

• Recognition of Recreation Supervisor Bruce Watt for being named the Young Professional Award winner by the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association. 

• Waiver of bid request for the contraction of a picnic pavilion at Henry Park. 

• Request for permission to dispose of fixed assets for the Department of Public Works and Vernon Police Department. 

• Application for a Department of Economic and Community Development grant ion the amount of $200,000. 

• Request to cancel the Feb. 4 council meeting.
