The Rotary Club of Rockville on Monday awarded its annual scholarships to four area high school graduates who are headed to four-year colleges this fall.
Each student received a $1,500 scholarship from the Rockville Rotary:
• Danielle DeCarli, Ellington High School. She is headed to Western New England University to study business and accounting in hopes of furthering her family’s equestrian business.
• Laura Dewey, of Rockville High School. She will be attending Central Connecticut State University to pursue a teaching degree in early childhood education, building on her volunteer work with young children locally and in Zambia.
• Deisy Morales, of Rockville High School. She will pursue a degree in social work at Eastern Connecticut State University.
• Danielle Skoglund, of Rockville High School. She has worked extensively at Stafford Veterinary Center and will pursue a career in veterinary medicine at the State University of New York at Cobleskill.
The funding for the scholarships is raised through the Rockville Rotary’s annual rose sale, which is coordinated by Rotarian Frank Borysevicz.
The Rotary’s Scholarship Selection Committee, chaired by Joe Ryan, includes Rotarians Risa Filkoff, Steve Bazzano, and Ben Hardy.
The Rotary Club of Rockville draws its members from Vernon, Tolland and Ellington. It is part of the worldwide organization Rotary International.
