There was a teacher once in elementary school, Mrs. W. if my mind serves me correctly, that I distinctly remember saying – “one day I expect to see your name in lights”. Now, I cannot tell you if that was a confidence booster that was also shared with my twenty other runny nosed, dirty faced, want to play all day classmates… or if that was reserved exclusively for me.
Since that day, I can tell you, I have chosen the path… well lets just say less walked. I have never been satisfied with “status quo” or doing something just because that’s what people for years before me have done. My parents, who have stood behind me in everything I’ve decided I would like to do, is much of the reason I am where I am today. (Thanks Mom and Dad :))
I graduated Rockville High School on a fast track, against dissuasion from school counselors, continued that motivation and drive into graduating early from Manchester Community College and Central Connecticut State University. Had my first “big girl” job in a law firm as a paralegal when I was 17, and was a small business owner by 21.
Wait, what?! I was all set up to go down the path to being an attorney when this incredible opportunity comes to my attention. Long, boring, and tedious details aside, September 7, 2012 I signed my name and became my life long friend Beth Russell’s business partner in the Velvet Touch Hair Salon.
The rest is a wrap. I have the pleasure and privilege to go to work each day with a group of women who I look up to for their strengths and incredible talents, who look after me like their own… and I honestly have to say that is something special.
I have two little boys, fur babies, Tank & Bruiser who I spend the rest of my time with. As far as I’m concerned, my name might as well be in lights, because I have a pretty fabulous life!!
As I get more and more into this “blogging” thing I hope I get to know each one of you who are so kind to keep up with my blabbing. I plan to bring you lots of helpful information about beauty, DIY’s, and all the different products I am loving on the market (and those I am not as well :)). If there is anything you’d like to know or see featured… let me know!!
