Superintendent Officially Introduces New VCMS Principal

James Harrison began his new duties this week.

Here is the official announcement released by Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway on Thursday on the appointment of James Harrison as principal of Vernon Center Middle School. 

Harrison was a vice principal and takes over the Michael Cain, who resigned last week to take the principal's post at Crosby High School in Waterbury. 



The Vernon Public Schools District is pleased to announce the re-assignment of Vernon Center Middle School Assistant Principal Mr. James Harrison to the position of Principal of Vernon Center Middle School as of July 9, 2013.

Prior to working in Vernon, Mr. Harrison was a special education teacher at Griswold High School and then became Assistant Principal at Plainfield Central School.

Mr. Harrison began his career in Vernon in August 2000 as the Assistant Principal of Vernon Center Middle School. He received his Master of Education Degree from the University of Hartford. He has proven to be a skilled administrator and has been essential to the Vernon Center Middle School administrative team. He has an excellent rapport with staff and students and is committed to the success of the school.

Mr. Harrison is delighted at the opportunity to lead such a wonderful school and is looking forward to working together to make Vernon Center Middle School a great place to learn and grow.
