The Board of Education has called a special meeting for Wednesday to discuss its budget for both the current fiscal year and the 2013-14 fiscal year.
It is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the administration building.
The school board's budget request for 2013-14 stands at $49,494,787 heading into Tuesday's referendum. Mayor George Apel had cut $1.5 million from its original request and on Monday, the Town Council trimmed another $675,000.
The current $48,180,997 budget was about $1 million in the hole because of rising state tuition obligations like special education and magnet schools and the school board is prepared to draft a letter asking the Town Council for some extra funds.
It will be in the form of insurance savings already in a designated account and will likely be not exceed $200,000 school officials have said.
The deficit has been trimmed by a series of spending freezes and creative programs.
