Maple Street School Principal Resigns

Parents will be involved in the replacement process, the superintendent said.

Maple Street School Principal Pamela Barker-Jones has resigned "for personal reasons."

Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway made the announcement in a letter to parents distributed on Wednesday.

Barker-Jones had been on a leave of absence for about two weeks.

Conway said a search for her replacement has begun and that Lyn Gandolf would continue to serve as the interim principal.

"We will conduct a new principal search in a very thoughtful and deliberate manner and we want your input as we move forward," Conway told parents in the letter.

Conway said a survey will be distributed next week regarding what parents are looking for in a principal.

Barker-Jones took the job in August. Conway said no disciplinary action was involved.
