Harrison Promoted to VCMS Principal

Michael Cain has taken the Crosby High School principal's job.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway has wasted no time in filling the top spot at Vernon Center Middle School.

Late last week, Principal Michael Cain announced he was leaving to take the principal's position at Crosby High School in Waterbury.

On Monday, Conway announced that VCMS Vice Principal James Harrison has been promoted to principal. Harrison had expressed his desire to move up, Conway said.

"James Harrison has expressed his desire to continue the good work that Mr. Cain has started in many areas and to be able to provide stability and continuity for the staff," Conway said. "Mr. Harrison is enthusiastic and excited about moving the middle school forward in the direction it needs to move."

Harrison's first day as principal was Tuesday.

In a letter to parents, Cain said he has enjoyed his two years at VCMS.

"I am very grateful to have had the past two years with your children and I will not forget my experiences in a great school and a great town," Cain wrote. "I know that you will continue to thrive and I wish Vernon and Vernon Center Middle School the absolute best!"
