Family Style Cooking Program Kicks Off At Skinner Road School
It could become a monthly even in the school district.
The Skinner Road School PTO and the Vernon Food and Nutritional Services Department recently teamed up for a family cooking night.
Chef Chris Avtges, the food and nutrition services director for the Vernon School system, worked with about 10 families - teams of one adult and one child - to prepare kid-friendly recipes that the students can be involved in making.
Avtges said it was the first of what he hopes will be a monthly event throughout the school district.
At Skinner Road School, the families prepared chicken en papillote with vegetables, cauliflower cous cous and a chocolate and cherry quinoa bar.
