Vernon Schools Bookmobile Loans Out More Than 2,000 Volumes

It served more than 800 borrowers.

The Vernon Schools Bookmobile handed out 2,682 books to 844 borrowers this summer, an end-of-season report indicates.

The Bookmobile was sponsored by Key Hyundai and staffed with volunteers from the community at large, the Rockville Community Alliance and teachers.

It offered about 5,000 pieces of reading material.

Here is a breakdown of its performance:

Tuesday Route

Total Children: 416.
Total Books: 1,167.

• Franklin Street - 23 children, 44 books.
• Center 735 - 75 children, 135 books.
• Dart Hill Park - 62 children, 181 books.
• Park West - 106 children,  302 books.
• Talcott Park -  98 children, 279 books.
• Spring Street - 45 children, 148 books.
• Maple Street - 7 children,  23 books.
• MSS LUnch Program -  55 books.

Thursday Route

Total Children: 428.
Total Books: 1,400.

• Dobbs Crossing -  21 children,  61 books.
• Sleeping Giant - 41 children,  136 books.
• Valley Falls Park -  103 children,  336 books.
• Center Road School - 18 children, 49 books.
• Henry Park -  245 children,  818 books.
