Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled for Saturday in Vernon

The drunken driving checkpoint will be in operation from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The Vernon Police Department and the Metro Traffic Services law enforcement unit will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Vernon on Saturday.

The checkpoint will be in operation from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Route 83, Route 74, Bolton Road, South Frontage Road, Route 31 and Route 30, Vernon police said.

The checkpoint is being funded through a federal Comprehensive DUI Enforcement Program grant that funds a regional effort to combat drunken driving through the use of checkpoints and roving patrols.
