All but one of the state's major swimming areas that are tested regularly during the summoner season will be open for the long labor Day weekend, officials from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said on Thursday.
Ironically, the one swimming area not open is at Mashamoquet Brook State Park in Promfret. The northeast corner of the state is popular this weekend because of the Woodstock Fair.
DEEP officials said the reason was "poor water quality."

Mashamoquet is the lone exception out of those that are tested.

And when the problems have been solved, let's find new ones to rail against. No one is suggesting that we sweep our problems under the carpet. We are suggesting that you take a breath and give the BOE some time to correct what is wrong. There is no question that we now know what the problems are. But it should be obvious that not everyone here agrees on what is a problem and what is not.
