George Washington Posed Here?

RCA is looking for residents who can make cutouts of historical figures for the July in the Sky celebration.

The Rockville Community Alliance is inviting George Washington to the July in the Sky celebration.

And Abe Lincoln.

Betsy Ross came come by a sew a flag or two if she wants.

Heck, George Patton can march on in for that matter.

And to get them all there, the RCA is asking any resident who has the skill to fashion a wood cutout of any patriotic figure to help out.

The idea, Town Council member and RCA official Thomas DiDio says is to use the cutouts, complete with face holes, for photo opportunities for the July 3 event.

It is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. in Downtown Rockville. Fireworks viewing is also featured at Henry Park.

A trophy will be awarded for the best cutout or group of cutouts.

Anyone interested can contact DiDio at 860-646-5320 or thomas.didio@snet.net.

DiDio was not specific on his definition of "patriotic" so who knows if the likes of Bill Belichick will show up.

If he does, a few Jets fans have threatened to pose with him wearing green hats.
