The Vernon Lacrosse Association is sponsoring an open house at the Center 375 gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Center 375 is located at 375 Hartford Turnpike.
The VLA has run a successful boys program in the Connecticut Valley Youth Lacrosse League since 1999.
This year will be the first year for Vernon Lacrosse in the Connecticut Valley Girls Youth Lacrosse League as it establishes a new girls lacrosse program.
The VLA runs the following programs in the spring:
• K through 2 Lightning Clinic Program for boys and girls.
• A third- and fourth-grade boys team.
• A fifth- and sixth-grade boys team.
• A seventh- and eighth-grade boys team.
• A third- and fourth-grade girls team.
• A fifth- and sixth-grade girls team.
The open house will feature opportunities to meet coaches, ask questions, get information and register for the upcoming spring season.
The event will include a free clinic providing any child the chance to try the sport and learn the four core fundamentals of the game - scoop, cradle, catch and throw. Equipment for both boys and girls will be on display and available for use.
