State Tourney Begins Today for RHS Baseball and Softball Teams

Both the Rockville High School baseball and softball teams are scheduled to take to the the diamond today in the opening round of their respective Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference tournaments.

Here is a look at the matchups:

Baseball

Class L

The No. 11-seeded Bristol Eastern Lancers (13-7) will host the No. 22 Rockville Rams (12-8) today at 3:30 p.m.  The teams have not played each other this season but are expected to battle in a close game.  The Lancers have lost three of their last five games after going 11-4 though the beginning and the middle of the season.  They lost two of those games by one run each.  The Rams have had a rollercoaster season but finished strong going 5-2 in their last seven games.  The Rockville bats have struggled, though,over the last three games. The Rams scored a total of four runs in that three-game span.

Softball

Class L

The No. 25 East Lyme Vikings (10-10) will travel to Vernon to take on the No. 8 Rockville Rams (15-5) at 4:30 p.m today.  The teams have not met this season.  The Rams have been a powerhouse all season, paced by hitters Brianna Levick and Elissa Graf. Rockville has also received solid pitching from Kaitlyn Lajoie.  The Vikings started out slow with a 1-4 start to the season but have turned it on late in the season going 5-2 in their last seven games including a current three game winning streak to end the regular season.  In their last three games they have outscored their opponents 20-5.
