Ready, Set, School Fair Slated for March 24

Kindergarten registration begins and various agencies will be on hand.

The Vernon School Readiness Council is sponsoring a Ready, Set, School Fair on Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vernon Center Middle School,  777 Hartford Turnpike.

The event is free for members of the community.

It will kick off kindergarten registration as well as provide fun activities and information about programs and services available to families with young children in the Vernon area.

Various agencies will be represented, including the Vernon Board of Education, Eastern Connecticut Health Network’s Family Resource Center, the Vernon Preschool Collaborative (a Vernon Public Schools and East Conn Head Start initiative), the Rockville Public Library, the Vernon Parks and Recreation Department, the Vernon Public Schools Wellness Council, CHIP, the Connecticut  Child identification program, and many local high quality preschools and child care centers.

Parents who wish to register their children for kindergarten
must bring each child’s birth certificate and two proofs of residency.

Children will be able to get a library card, participate in fun gym and sports activities, and obtain their photo ID and fingerprints.

Entertainment will include a magic show and a karate demonstration. Each child will leave with a gift.
