Rams End Season With Win Over Fermi Boys

Rockville High School Boys Basketball Team Ends Season With a Win at Fermi, 61-51.

The Rockville High School boys basketball team finished its season with a 61-51 win over Fermi on Monday night in Enfield.  The Rams hit 14 of 18 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

The Rams ended the season with a 3-17 overall record and went 3-13 in their league.  The team was lead by senior M.J. Faniel who averaged just more than 13 points and nine rebounds a game.  Junior Tyler Green was second on the team with an average of eight points per game.  Both players played in all 20 games this season.

Coach Peter McCann said Faniel had a terrific senior season and improved greatly.

“It was the first time in his career where he was able to practice right from the start and it showed. He was aggressive both offensively and defensively and was a standout,” said Coach McCann.

The Rams went through a transition year this season with a lot of young talent and inexperience on the varsity level.  McCann says he is really excited about next year for the Rams as the entire starting backcourt will be returning.  Sophomores Kurt Annelli and Raekwan Barber are expected to fill in nicely to give the Rams an inside presence.  Freshman Sean O’Gara, who received more varsity playing time later in the season, is also expected to contribute greatly for the Rams next season.

McCann says it is never too early to start preparing for next season and that it is up to the kids on how much they want to improve for next season.

“Our kids need not only to play during the off-season but make a concerted effort to improve their games individually to help us improve as a team. I told them our next season begins today. They need to prepare themselves to have success,”  McCann says.

McCann also says that while the Rams' record may not have been what they wanted it to be, the effort and positive attitude the kids had never wavered throughout the season.
