The class will run from 6-7:30 PM and will be held in the Peck Room on the lower level. Space is limited to 50 students. If we get a long waiting list we will hold a second class on a later date.
On May 2 at 6PM, author Hannah Perlstein Marcus will come and discuss her book,Sidonia’s Thread: The Secrets of a Mother and Daughter Sewing a New Life in America. This is a memoir about the lives of two women, a mother and daughter, who were living in a displaced persons camp after World War II and come to Springfield, Massachusetts on their own to build a new life. With no other family, except each other, they build a world that revolves around the mother’s remarkable talent as fashion designer and seamstress while the daughter serves as her dutiful model. Ms. Marcus will discuss this very personal look at a turbulant time in history.
