Upcoming Events at Rockville Public Library

Spring Adult Programs at Rockville Public Library

Here at RPL we are busy planning programs for the upcoming months. All programs at the library are offered at no charge and are open to residents of Vernon and surrounding communities.  Please call 860-875-5892 x21 to register for any of the events listed below.

On April 26 at 6PM we are having noted local photographer, Fred Bird, do a class on How To Use Your Point & Shoot Camera. Fred will teach class members how to take great pictures with digital or film cameras, how to use settings and what is photo composition. The class will run from 6-7:30 PM and will be held in the Peck Room on the lower level.  Space is limited to 50 students. If we get a long waiting list we will hold a second class on a later date.

On May 2 at 6PM, author Hannah Perlstein Marcus will come and discuss her book,Sidonia’s Thread: The Secrets of a Mother and Daughter Sewing a New Life in America. This is a memoir about the lives of two women, a mother and daughter, who were living in a displaced persons camp after World War II  and come to Springfield, Massachusetts on their own to build a new life. With no other family, except each other, they build a world that revolves around the mother’s remarkable talent as fashion designer and seamstress while the daughter serves as her dutiful model. Ms. Marcus will discuss this very personal look at a turbulant time in history.

Finally, on May 8, 9, and 16, we will be offering classes on How to Download Library eBooks and Audiobooks to your personal device or eReader. For people with a Kindle or iPad/ mobile device with Kindle App, class will be held on May 8th at 1:00 PM or 6:00 PM.

For people with a Nook, Kobo, Sony or other brand of eReader or the Nook App on their mobile device, the class will be offered on May 9 at 1:00 PM or May 16 at 6:00 PM.  People in these two classes should bring their own laptop if they have one.

Many more new and exciting programs are in the works and information is always available on our website at www.rockvillepubliclibrary.org

You could set up a feeding station with a trail-cam ; you can see if he's coming around. TrailRead More cams run from $60 to $200 - but I have a "cheapy" $80 that does night time and day time shots and is fantastic, so the cheaper cams are very good.

Go out late a "night", when it is very quite, call his name. I have found many cats thisRead More way, because house cats don't like a lot of noise and are very afraid. Your cat is hiding, will be afraid to come out. Look in areas were there is woods, secluded areas.

Hi Class of 1945. If you need help getting the work out there is a FaceBook page titled "If youRead More grew up in Rockville." Although most of the conversations are about reminiscing yester-year we do have quite the size crowd. Currently we stand at 2080 members & we add approx 10 new members a week. So I would be happy to help spread this word if you like. Carl Slicer. From Vernon & Class of RHS 1976. cslicer@BestHire.com Tel. 872-0055.
