Vernon Superintendent to Conduct Informal Informational Gatherings

The meetings have been dubbed the Superintendent's Coffee Connection.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway is treating the town to tea and coffee.

One school at a time.

Conway is initiating a new program she has dubbed the superintendent's "Coffee Connection." It is a series of informal gatherings designed to give parents, school staff members and members of the community and chance to chat and ask questions about Vernon's public schools, she said.

She said she will also give updates on the school system during the meetings.

The first Superintendent's Coffee Connection is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 4, at , 69 East St. It will take place in the cafeteria from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m.

Conway will conduct a Coffee Connection at each of the town's schools.

Other dates for the Superintendent's Coffee Connection will be publicized well in advance, Conway said.

Now I like this idea!!! Informative information should be open to those that are not in government positions that people who are affected by rules and regulations will now have a say and give Ideas (constructive ideas). I hope most parents/those in the community give some input. This plan could benefit both sides 1)issues the school is facing with students, 2) parents and the community, giving ideas and trying to work out situations that arise.

I think its a great idea. But, seriously, why not have it night. First thing in the morning, When we are getting our children ready for school, and ourselves ready for work. Wouldn't it make more sense to have it in the p.m. When its more likely to be able to get a sitter. I would think the turn out would be higher for a evening event.

Tim, contact Mary Conway, see if she will do a meeting in the evening! If not, see if you could go into work a little later one morning!
