Vernon Schools Name New Maple Street Principal

Assistant principal from Hartford set to lead Maple Street School starting July 1.

Vernon Public Schools announced Wednesday that Melissa Trantolot, assistant principal at J.C. Clark Elementary and Middle School in Hartford, will be taking over as principal of Maple Street School starting July 1.

Before becoming an assistant principal, Trantolo served as a teacher, K-8 curriculum specialist, and literacy facilitator.

Along with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Special Education from Clemson University, she also received an Educational Leadership 092 Certification last year from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU).

Trantolo will take over for interim principal Lyn Gandolf, who stepped in after the previous principal, Pamela Baker-Jones, resigned in October just months after taking the position.
