United Gets Revenge on BCL

RMS scores early and late on the power play.

This time around, the Rockville/Manchester/Stafford United hockey team was the home squad at the Bolton Ice Palace for a game against Bolton/Coventry/Lyman.

And United was also the winner, avenging an earlier loss.

RMS scored two power play goals - one early and one late - to take a 2-1 contest on Saturday.

The initial goal came just 1:51 into the game when RMS Ryan Hasselberger, in a man-advantage situation, scored to make it 1-0.

After a scoreless second period, BCL tied it when Kevin Morton scored unassisted on a power play at the 20-second mark.

With 7:19 to go, Angus Deane scored the game-winner for RMS from John Sellew at 7:19.

RMS Goalie Matt Roy made saves 13 while BCL's Cameron Earle had 22.

United's next game is against North Branford at the Northford Ice Pavilion in North Haven on Saturday at 3:15 p.m.

Coach Christian Stevenson said, "This was a good old-fashioned hard-hitting, rivalry game. This game became priority No. 1 for the team after losing to them a couple weeks ago. The energy level and effort brought by my team is something we - the coaches - have been waiting to see all season. We have not had a lot to be excited about and it was great to see the team smiling, singing and laughing in the locker room after the game, they deserved it."
