Tolland Overpowers Rockville

The Rockville Rams struggled against the surging Eagles on Friday Night.

The powerful running game of Tolland was in full effect on Friday night at Rockville High School.

Tucker Hewitt had three rushing touchdowns for the Eagles as Tolland picked up a 47-6 victory against the Rams at Rockville.

Tolland quarterback Chris Byam added two rushing touchdowns of his own as the Eagles offense scored 40 points in the first half alone.  Jamison Boucher and Jarren Jones also added a touchdown each.

Rockville struggled on both sides of the ball until the fourth quarter when AJ Spencer had a nice 13 yard touchdown run which ended up being the last score of the game.

Byam could’ve had another touchdown run in the first quarter but instead made a great play to get running back Jones into the end zone.  Around the five yard line, Byam was about to be tackled when he pitched the ball backwards to Jones at the last second who walked in untouched for a 13-0 lead.

Rockville head coach David Jedidian said that the triple option is extremely difficult to defend especially when it is the Tolland offense.

“Tolland is a good team and they run that offense really well,” said Jedidian. “We don’t really face it all the time but I thought we had a good game plan.  We just didn’t stay disciplined enough.”

Spencer was also a standout for Rockville on special teams with pretty good returns all game long.

Next up Tolland will try to improve on its  4-3 record with a game against East Catholic at Cheney Tech on November 5 at 2:30 p.m.  Rockville will try to end a losing streak with a home game against Plainville on Nov. 4t at 6:30 p.m.  The  game will also be Senior Night for the Rams.
