Staffers Named to Interim Education Positions

The school board approved them on Tuesday.

The Board of Education on Tuesday approved two existing school system staff members for interim positions at the central office and Rockville High School.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway had recommended the shuffling.

The sequence began when Judy Latonie, the school system's K through 12 curriculum coordinator for English language arts, social studies and library media, resigned for personal reasons.

Justin Gusy, who was an assistant principal at Rockville High School, was named to that position on an interim basis for the duration of the year by the school board.

Taking Gusy's place as an interim assistant principal at RHS is Edward Brewer, who had been the Science Department chairman. His position is also the the balance of the year.

School officials are interviewing candidates for a permanent substitute to take over the science classes, Conway said.
