Special presentations on school safety and security have been scheduled for both tonight's Board of Education meeting and a meeting of the board's Finance Committee.
The meetings are scheduled for 7 and 6, respectively, at the school administration building.
It is the first item on the school board meeting agenda.
Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway said Police Chief James Kenny and Fire Marshal Ray Walker will be on hand to answer questions.
Kenny has said that school safety has always been a top priority, especially after the school shootings in Newtown in December.
The 2013-14 education budget proposal reflects just $22,688 extra being set aside for security.
That is for one additional security guard at Rockville High School.
Any new safety initiatives will be presented as "a one-time capital expenditure," Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway said on Wednesday. Hence, the Finance Committee is entertaining a presentation.
