SBM Charitable Foundation Seeks Scholarship Applicants

Offering up to $5000 assistance for undergraduate students attending colleges and universities in CT, the SBM Charitable Foundation applications are available.

 

The SBM Charitable Foundation Inc. is seeking applicants for scholarships in amounts up to $5000 to help fund undergraduates attending institutions of higher learning in Connecticut. The scholarships are meant for the 2012-2013 school year.

In June of 2011, the Foundation awarded $200,000 in scholarships.

Anyone wishing to apply can obtain an application at th foundation web site: www.sbmfoundation.org or by phoning (860) 533-1067 and requesting the application by mail.

To be eligible, applicants must reside in Hartford, Tolland, or Windham Counties. High school students must be in the top 40 percent in their class rankings and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better, as well as exhibit an exceptional commitment to school and community activities. All applicants must be U.S. Citizens and plan to attend a College or University in Connecticut with a full time enrollment. Scholarships are renewable for those maintaining academic and other eligibility requirements in college.

Established in 2000 by Connecticut Bancshares, Inc, the parent company of the former Savings Bank of Manchester, the SBM Charitable Foundation, Inc.'s stated mission is the betterment of th lives of those who live and work predominantly East of the River in Hartford, Tolland, and Windam Counties. Priorities for the Foundation's giving are Health, Human Services, Education, Housing, and the Arts.
