RMS United Hockey Team Qualifies for State Tourney

United gets a 3-2 win over Lyman Hall

The Rockville/Manchester/Stafford United hockey team pounded Lyman Hall with 47 shots, scored three times and qualified for the state tournament with a 3-2 win at the Northford Ice Pavillion in North Haven.

First period

LH - Alec Lynde, unassisted, at 12:02.
 
Second period

RMS - Josh Macsuga from Angus Deane and J.R. Piretti at 4:10.
RMS - John Sellew from J.R. Piretti and Angus Deane at 5:00.
 
Third period

LH - Andrew Robinson from Tom Abildgaard at 6:42.
RMS - J.R. Piretti, unassisted, at 8:29.
 
 
Goalies

RMS - Matt Roy, 15 saves.
LH - Steven Esposito, 33 saves (played the first and second periods),
Kenny Cairns - 11 saves.
 
RMS United is now 8-11 and Lyman Hall is 6-13-1.

"We qualified for the state tournament with this win. The players knew they had to win to extend the season and showed up ready to play," United coach Christian Stevenson said. "We had some difficulty finishing as we took 47 shots and hit 3 posts but 3 goals was just enough to keep it going for at least another day."
