Among the many comments in support of the Somers Cooperative Preschool, readers said that despite the tragic loss of its home facility (the Somers Congregational Church was destroyed by fire in January), and remains one of the best places for early learning.

Reader Melissa said: "I enjoy that I have the ability to help in the class and get to know the other students and parents. These teachers are nothing short of amazing and have taught my children much more than what they needed to have to enter elementary school. After the fire and the move of the preschool this year... I have a lot more love and respect for the school and it's members. Not only do my kids get above and beyond a great education but the members are a kind of family that you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere."

Coming in right on the heels of Grove Street and Somers Co-op were two more schools who were locked in a dead heat: the Indian Valley YMCA in Vernon and Trinity Cooperative in Vernon.

"I was very happy with the Indian Valley YMCA preschool in Vernon. The teachers were amazing and communicated so well with the parents. I think my little one is much more prepared for kindergarten because of this program!" Christine Brouillard said.

Reader Joanne Kaminski wrote: "Hands down, Trinity Cooperative Preschool in Vernon...Millie Oliphant has an amazing way with children and parents that is infectious when you are at the school. Her ability to see each child's individual promise brings out the best in every child. Since it is a co-op, parents are a part of the school and can see the social growth taking place in their children. It is a great opportunity to get to know the other children in your child's class and to see first-hand the relationships that your child is building."
