Graduation Day Should be a Hot One

Temperatures on Wednesday should peak at 95 degrees.

It looks like a stretch of hot weather is arriving just in time for Wednesday's graduation.

The RHS commencement exercises are scheduled for 6 p.m. in the courtyard. Grads and guests will need to stay hydrated with daytime temperatures peaking at 95 degrees, AOL weather says.

There is a 20 percent chance or precipitation and the temperatures will creep down to 72 after the sun sets at 8:29 p.m.

Graduation will take on the traditional format for the most part with the valedictorian, Chelsea McDonnell, and the salutatorian, Jenny Mears, delivering speeches.

School and Class of 2012 officials are also scheduled to speak.

In keeping with tradition, Mayor George Apel, members of the Board of Education, Town Council members and state Vernon's legislators are all invited.

There is one added twist. This year, school officials have invited all teachers of the Vernon public school system who want to attend to turn it into a graduation from the system, not just RHS, Principal Eric Baim said.
