Former Northeast School Principal Gets a New Job Within Vernon's System

Michael DeBellis will be returning to familiar surroundings.

One of the two former elementary school principals in Vernon has been reassigned within the district, Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway said on Monday.

Michael DeBellis, who was officially replaced as the principal at on Monday, is returning to his old home - .

He is also returning to his old specialty.

Conway said DeBellis will serve as as a half-time assistant principal and a  half-time physical education teacher at Center Road. He was previously a   PE teacher there. He was the Northeast principal for two full years and was an interim principal for a semester prior to that.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities at Center Road, DeBellis will work with adaptive and other special needs students, Conway said.

"Mr. DeBellis will be implementing some special programs in the PE curriculum for students with challenges," Conway said. Conway seemed happy to retain DeBellis in that capacity.

DeBellis had pledged his support to school officials throughout the transition. It was announced a month ago that he would not be returning to Northeast School.

A decision has not been made on former Skinner Road Principal Matthew Wlodarczyk, Conway said.
