Elementary Schools in Session on Wednesday, but not VCMS or High School

Power was restored at CRS on Tuesday.

Here is the rundown on Vernon public schools for Wednesday, according to an 8 p.m. alert sent out by Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway:

• The town's five elementary schools - Center Road, Maple Street, Northeast, Skinner Road and Lake Street - will be in session after power was restored to Center Road School on Tuesday.

• There is no school at Vernon Center Middle School.

• There is no school at Rockville High School.

A total of 1,347 Connecticut Light & Power customers were still without electricity in Vernon as of 8:18 p.m.

Conway released the following statement:

"Good Evening, this is Dr. Mary Conway, superintendent of the vernon public schools. I am pleased to inform you that power has been restored to Center Road School. Unfortunately, CL&P was unable to restore power to Vernon Center Middle School and to Rockville High School. Therefore, both Vernon Center Middle School and Rockville High School will be closed tomorrow, October 31st.

"All five elementary schools will be open on Wednesday, Oct. 31. We anticipate that VCMS and Rockville High School will re-open on Thursday, Nov. 1.

"Thank you once again for your patience and cooperation.
Have a good evening."
