Public School Choice Students

The board has also learned that there was a reduction in the Public School Choice students’ enrollment numbers. These are students who have elected to attend a different school within the Vernon District because of poor performance at their home school.

It was reported that 58 students district wide now participate in this program. This year 18 students from Maple Street and three students from Northeast selected to be placed in either Center Road School or Lake Street School for the 2011-2012 school year.

This chart shows where the new 21 students have been placed.

There was no data for fifth graders at this point. Board chairperson Anne Fischer asked for additional data to see if students who select the Public School Choice Transfers after third grade to see student data at the low performing school compared to when the students move to a school that is meeting Adequate Yearly Progress.
