Completion Date in Sight for RHS Boiler System

One of the two boilers has been down.

It appears the heating system at Rockville High School will be fully operational again in a month.

That was the estimate from Michael Purcaro, the director of business and finance for the school system, after the Town Council set up the last piece of the financing puzzle at its last meeting. School officials are using the $10,000 approved out of the capital non-recurring account to pay the insurance deductible.

The remaining $80,000 is coming from an insurance claim, Purcaro said.

The insurance carrier has assigned Hartford-based Crest Mechanical to do the work.

The heating system at RHS has been a half strength for some time while education officials waited on a claim, Purcaro said.

There are two boilers in all. The second boiler has been fully operational, Purcaro sad. The faulty boiler has 30 chambers and half of them need to be replaced, Purcaro said.

The work should be completed by mid-March, Purcaro said.
