BCR Reaches State Hockey Semifinals

Saturday's quarterfinal was a 3-0 win.

It is on to the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Division III hockey semifinals for Bolton/Coventry/Rockville.

J.R. Piretti scored twice and assisted on a third goal and Cameron Earle sent back 16 shots to record the shutout as BCR defeated Tolland/EO Smith/Windham 3-0 on Saturday at Trinity College.

Piretti scored his first at the 6:40 mark of the first period when he took a pass from Matt Zawislinski and then took off on a breakaway and beat Tolland/E.O. Smith/Windham goalie Matt Schoen.

At the 12:29 mark of the second period, Piretti scored his second with a top-shelf backhander from the high slot from Liam McGrath and Nate Tonzi.

Eddie Bates scored a power play goal from Hunter Byram and Piretti at 6:37 of the third to make it 3-0.

Schoen had 26 saves for Tolland/E.O. Smith/Windham, which finished the season at 11-8-1.

BCR is now 19-1-2.

BCR's game in the semis is scheduled for Tuesday at Yale's Ingalls Arena versus No. 2-seeded St. Bernard's/Bacon Academy/NFA. The game will be either at 5:30 or 7:30 p.m., BCR coach Christian Stevenson said.
