UPDATE: Ready Set Baby Fair- Vernon's Community Baby Shower

The Vernon School Readiness Council, and its subcommittee called The Infant and Toddler Community of Practice, are committees designed to help parents in the community raise safe, healthy, and productive children by providing Vernon/Rockville parents and child care providers with resources and information. They are currently planning a community-wide baby shower on Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Tallcott Park in Rockville, with a rain date set for Sunday September 23rd from 11-3. We can all agree that no matter your circumstances, raising a child takes a village. This event will not only provide community parents with a multitude of information and resources, but a chance to meet other area Moms and let children play together in a community play area where a story teller will read books to the children and healthy snacks will be handed out for free. In addition there will be drawings for gift cards to local area businesses. If you are an expectant or new parent, or parent of a toddler up to the age of 2, then this event is for you! 

Vendors include representatives from WIC, VSS, Birth to 3, Care 4 Kids, Vernon Pre-school Collaborative, Vernon Youth Services Bureau, Husky, local pediatricians and day care providers, Hockanum Valley, DCF, Vernon Police, Kidsafe CT, Rockville Community Alliance, Food Share, Early Head Start, Rockville Public Library, Vernon Family Resource center, ECHN, and Vernon Moms Group. There will be raffles, give-aways, free fruits, veggies, and water, as well as a drawing that includes a high chair, car seat, stroller, swing, bouncer, and crib! 

Some local vendors are set to include Flint's Barber Shop who will be giving away a gift card for "Babys First Hair Cut", Cooksey Photo who will give away gift certificates, and You and Me Pockets by Tara McCarthy who will have a booth dedicated to cloth diapering.
