Beach Baby

How to stay trendy and chic at the beach when you're sporting a baby bump!

The past few days have been darn near Summer-like here in Connecticut.

Monday, in fact, reached almost 90 degrees, inevitably reminding me of the impending doom called swimsuit season.

Now, I haven’t been in bikini shape for a few years. But, this year is even worse.

I will be in my second, and third trimesters of my third pregnancy.

Having planned a North Carolina coastal vacation before I conceived, I am now faced with the dilemma of spending time at the beach while pregnant, and what to wear.

I know full well that designers do NOT make maternity wear. So, what is a girl to do? I search for stylish swimsuit options … I was very happy to find that Gap makes a maternity line of clothing, as well as bathing suits. Unfortunately, those maternity bathing suits are not available now, except for this basic black two piece halter. Black is (duh) a slimming color and can be worn with any color you wish.

Motherhood Maternity had a few cute one-pieces. I especially like the black-and-white suit, which has removable straps. The geometric design pairs perfectly with a bold color like red, or teal. The polka dot halter has a retro feel. A white hat, jewelry, and white wedges will give you a clean, pulled together look.

The only one piece I liked from A Pea in the Pod was this zig-zag print halter. It should be worn with a pop of color, such as an orange, or bright pink.

I have made my choice this is the suit for me. I, personally, am a fairly conservative gal when it comes to showing skin and body parts. Therefore, I am in favor of a one piece over a tankini, or the ultra daring bikini. But, I’m dying to know what you all feel about a pregnant woman wearing a bikini?

Is it OK to bear your bump at the beach?
