Turning to poetry to cope with the Newtown tragedy.

Chills swept my body as I heard the news.

The youngest saints taken away in early morning daylight.

Whisked away to the sky to rest in the clouds with their dreams.

Beautiful faces with not enough fear of the world.

Imperfectly perfect souls of children with so many pathways left untread.

Eyes shining with fearful confusion before the unfamiliar taste of death was on their tongues.

Countless tears shed for each of the lives that will never be replaced.

Words and five second moments of silence are simply not enough.

God’s treasures taken from right under his hand.

Stolen rays that will shine down on us and light the way for us to continue on...
