Visions for Vacancies: What About West Main?

A small commercial parcel is available in the heart of Rockville.

Vernon Patch loves your input.

So, in a column called Visions for Vacancies, we present a vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use for it.

This week, it's a trip to West Main Street in Rockville - right about in the middle - where a small gray commercial building sits back a ways from the road.

Yes, we have zoning regulations, but put all of that aside for now and concentrate on what you would like to see there or what would be the best use for the community. Tell is in the comments.

So what should go there?

The building seems like a good location for a General Contractor or Subcontractors to house their business. It could be a good start up location for a contractor or a stepping stone for one to grow from home business to owning a workshop. It seems anything related to small manufacturing, construction, light industrial would be a good fit.

Looking at the stock results for Home Depot & Lowe's... The 2010-2012 the increase in sales has been 4% annually. So the home building business lags & so does the General Contractor.
