Vernon Democratic Town Commitee Endorses its Election Ticket

The DiDio mayoral campaign becomes official.

The Vernon Democratic Town Committee on Monday made it official and endorsed current Town Council member and former DTC Chairman Thomas DiDio as its 2013 mayoral candidate.

The nominating meeting took place at the Grand Army of the Republic Hall.

DiDio had proclaimed his intentions some time ago. He is an active member of the Rockville Community Alliance. Marie Herbst, who is not seeking another terms on the council after 44 years of elected service, formally nominated DiDio.

It was seconded by State Rep. Claire Janowski.

Joining DiDio on the Democratic ticket as candidates for Town Council are
incumbents Michael Winkler and Virginia Gingras.

The town committee also endorsed former council member Pauline Schaefer, Sarah Iacobello, Marcy Kelly, Ann Letendre, Terilynn Rogers, and Ronald Scussel for the council ticket.

Endorsed as candidates for four-year Board of Education positions were current Board members Michele Arn and Kyle Percy.

Percy, the school board's current treasurer and a board negotiator, had said he was not seeking another term. He said he has received an outpouring of support from residents and that changed his mind.

Chosen for two-year school board seats were former board member Paul Stansel and Tara Gordon.

Herbst said she decided not to run because family members urged her to take a break.
