School Officials Sponsor Legislative Breakfast, Talk Education Issues

Laura Bush, a local Board of Education member and an Area 3 director for the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education, recently hosted a legislative Breakfast with Vernon school officials at Rockville High School. 

Area legislators Timothy Ackert, Christopher Davis, Tony Guglielmo, Claire Janowski, and Pamela Sawyer attended. Others in attendance included Mayor George Apel, Town Administrator John Ward, Board of Education Chairman Dean Houle, school board member Amarjit Buttar, RHS Principal Eric Baim, and school system officials Patricia Buell, Michael Purcaro and Jaya Vijayasekar.

Some of the topics discussed and shared with the legislators were personalized education, the new teacher evaluation guidelines/plans, professional development on teen dating violence, and educational cost sharing funding.
