School Board, Council to Meet
Rockville High School could get a new assistant principal tonight.
Here's a look at the major meetings this week:
The Board of Education is scheduled to meet tonight at 6 at the administration building.
Agenda highlights:
• The board will discuss new textbook adoption.
• The board will address an Open Choice Academic and Social Support Grant.
• The board will discuss snow removal costs.
• Appointment of an assistant principal for Rockville High School (executive session anticipated).
• Ratification of a new contract with the Vernon School Administrations Association (executive session anticipated).
• The evaluation of the superintendent of schools will be presented (executive session anticipated).
The Town Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
Agenda Highlights:
Public hearing
• Comments and questions will be received relative to a proposed ordinance that would create another post-employment benefits trust fund and an other post employment benefits board.
Presentations
• Mayor's report.
• A demonstration of the lLicense Plate Reader system, requested by Deputy Mayor Brian Motola.
Action items
• Authorize a public hearing and special town meeting for Aug. 2 regarding an additional appropriation to the 2010-11 Board of Education not to exceed $944,533 to pay for exec special education costs.
• Discuss referring town-owned land to the Planning and Zoning Commission for review and, upon completion, authorize the town administrator to conduct a sale or lease of said properties via sealed bid or public auction. The parcels are:

- 11 Ward St.
- 12 Ward St.
- 13 Morrison St.
- 55 Lawrence S.
- 35 Village St.
• Discuss waiving the bidding for $79,000 worth of structural work at Maple Street School related damage over the winter.
• Accept Ogden View Drive as a town road.
