Primary Day Marks Debut of Four-District System

Polling districts are outlined on the map.

Tuesday's primary elections will not only decide three key candidates, but also will mark the first election in Vernon under the new four-district configuration.

The attached map outlines the new districts and polling places - Northeast School for District 1, Rockville High School for District 2, Skinner Road School for District 3 and Vernon Center Middle School for District 4.

VCMS actually sits in the second district, but it was determined by the registrars of voters and town council that Lake Street School is just not big enough for the southern part of town.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The primaries are:

• Susan Bysiewicz versus Chris Murphy for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination.

• Linda McMahon versus Chris Shays for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination.

• Paul Formica versus Daria Novak for the Republican U.S. House nomination and the right to challenge Vernon resident and Democratic incumbent Joseph Courtney.
