Mayor, Union, Sign DPW Contract

Agreement was endorsed on Friday.

Mayor Jason L. McCoy and AFSCME Council 4 have signed the two-year contract for Local 1471, as approved by the Town Council during a special meeting on August 29.

The two sides quietly signed the collective bargaining agreement on Friday.

“This agreement is good for the Town, members of 1471, and, most importantly, the Vernon taxpayers,” McCoy said. “It acknowledges our commitment to the delivery of quality and efficient services to our residents in addition to fair pay for good work. Through pension reform and wage control we have ensured long-term fiscal strength for the town.”

Local 1471 of Council 4 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees includes employees from the Departments of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Water Pollution Control.
