Janowski: Library Money Approved by Bond Commission

The allocation totals $1 million.

State Rep. Claire Janowski has indicated that the State Bond Commission has approved $1 million for improvements to the .

Janowski, a Democrat representing Vernon, made the announcement in a noontime e-mail.

“The process has been an ongoing, laborious effort for some time and it’s exciting and rewarding to see it come to fruition,” Janowski said. “This is a worthy shovel-ready project that will add jobs to our economy. I thank Gov. Malloy and the Office of Policy & Management for giving it their utmost priority as well as Speaker Donovan for making it a House priority request. It is a tremendous plus for Vernon, the state and all the regions Rockville Library serves.”

“The timing of the approval couldn't be better and fits perfectly with the Library's announced plans for a groundbreaking in June," Janowski said. "I commend the Library for their vision in pursuing the expansion and it's especially gratifying to see it all come together.”

A $250,000 state grant Janowski helped secure for the library that is also slated for disbursement this year, Janowski said.

Rockville Public Library opened in 1893.  The children’s wing was added in 1967.
