It's Two Republicans in Two Days Declaring 2nd District Intentions

Challengers are lining up against Courtney.

Two Republicans over the past two days have announced their intentions to seek the party's nomination for the 2nd District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The seat is currently occupied by three-term Democratic incumbent Joseph Courtney.

On Monday North Windham lawyer Doug Dubitsky announced that he is entering the race for the Republican nomination.

Dubitsky is a member of the Chaplin Board of Finance. He is also a farmer, and longtime small business owner.

On Sunday, East Lyme Republican First Selectman Paul Formica declared his intention to seek the GOP nomination. Formica is a small business owner and three-term first selectman.

In a news release announcing his candidacy, Formica said formal announcements will take place on Tuesday in East Lyme, Colchester, Enfield and Vernon.

The campaign has not issued any release on the specifics of those appearances.

Courtney is a Vernon resident. The state GOP convention is Friday in Hartford.
